His recent film "Sicko" takes a very strong look at the current healthcare insurance situation in the United States.

Whatever your feelings about the film or your political affiliation, please put them aside. In fact, the purpose of this challenge is not to take issue with the cost or unavailability of health insurance.

The purpose of this challenge is very simple: Currently Mr. Moore is a walking advertisement for heart disease and diabetes. Among other health issues. This is not to bash him. This is not to be viewed as an attack on him. This is not about aesthetics. This is not about looking good in a bathing suit. This is about Michael Moore exercising regularly and improving his diet so he can become a better role model for preventative care.

If Michael Moore really wants do something - if we ALL want to do something - about making changes in the health of the citizens of the United States then we believe he should focus on the prevention of illnesses by taking his health into his own hands. And it is our understanding that he has already begun by losing 30 pounds. We applaud him for that. But we would like to see more.

As the issuers of this challenge we do not know anything about Mr. Moore's personal health history. We do not know if there are any underlying causes for his current physical condition other than what we assume is lack of exercise and poor eating habits. Again, it is not our intention to condemn or condone Michael Moore's stance on any subject other than his own current physical condition. The challenge is sincerely meant to have a strong positive impact on the health of the nation.

So this is how you can play a big role in the Michael Moore Health Challenge:

Emails are sometimes overwhelming with organizing, composing, deleting, forwarding, and following up.

Here is one email I received that I think is worth sharing.

Subject: ICE Campaign - "In Case of Emergency"

We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends. If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call.

Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this "ICE" (In Case of Emergency) Campaign. The concept of "ICE" is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As cell phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name "ICE" ( In Case Of Emergency).

The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as "ICE." For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc.

A great idea that will make a difference!

Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our Mobile phones today!

It's Baffling To Think The Nuclear Industry And The Global Food Industry Would Ever Be Linked. But They Are.

Right now, food treated with ionizing radiation must be labeled as "Treated with irradiation" or "Treated by radiation." But according to Food and Water Watch, the irradiation industry wants to misleadingly label these foods as "electronically pasteurized" or "cold pasteurized."

Many serious health problems have been observed in lab animals fed irradiated foods, including premature death, cancer, tumors, stillbirths, mutations, organ damage, immune system failure and stunted growth. In one experiment, genetic damage was detected in young children who ate irradiated wheat.


In addition to health risks, radiation destroys vitamins, protein, essential fatty acids and other nutrients in foods – up to 80 percent of vitamin A in eggs and half the beta carotene in orange juice.

In spite of this alarming research the FDA is proposing a rule that would allow the use of the term "pasteurized" on some types of irradiated food and not require any labeling on others.

Study: A Likely Carcinogen Widespread

According to the CDC Teflon-related chemical found in almost everyone's blood, may be linked to infant health.

The chemical, perfluorooctanoic acid, is associated with the manufacture and use of Teflon and other moisture-resistant products. It is commonly known as PFOA. Microwave popcorn bags release several hundred times as much of the chemical as does cookware that has been coated with substances like Teflon.

Evidence of PFOA's presence in 100% of fetal cord blood samples analyzed by CDC and John Hopkins University toxicologist was reported last month.

The John Hopkins toxicologist who directed the study has said that is also revealed significant links between levels of PFOA in cord blood and the babies' birth weight, head circumference and other common measurements of newborn health.

The report is among a rash of studies that in the past few months have heightened concerns about the presence of PFOA and several related chemicals in human beings, their food, and the environment. In animals the chemical was associated with liver and pancreatic cancer.

FDA Attacks Complementary & Alternative Healthcare

I just spent three days reading, re-reading, researching and discussing the proposed FDA guidelines for "Complementary and Alternative Medicine" with two FDA attorneys. You can download a copy of this proposal for yourself at: http://www.fda.gov/ohrms/dockets/dockets/06d0480/06d0480.htm.

When I first heard about this FDA attack on complementary and alternative health care, I considered it another "Chicken Little" rumor. On further study, I'm appalled at the speed with which the pharmaceutical companies are implementing Codex Alimentarius in the USA. If you don't suspect the pharmaceutical companies control the FDA, you may want to research that further by visiting http://www.HealthFreedomUSA.org.

This insidious proposal is designed to redefine every complementary and alternative health care modality and product as "medicine." This has direct implications on the services and products provided by every alternative health care professional.

There is no facet of complementary and alternative health care that is not affected. If the FDA adopts this proposal, all natural health care would be illegal even for medical doctors.

Essential oils, herbs, herbal remedies, homeopathic remedies, minerals, nutritional supplements, plant enzymes and vitamins are redefined in this proposal as "medicine." Very simply, medicine is under the jurisdiction of the FDA and, by law, only licensed medical doctors may prescribe "medicines." Anybody else who advises, advocates, counsels, distributes, markets, recommends or suggests anybody use "medicine" is practicing medicine without a license. This is a felony in the USA punishable by fines and incarceration.


Aromatherapy, auricular therapy, biofeedback, color therapy, homeopathy, hypnotism, naturopathy, neurotherapy, nutritional consulting, reflexology, sound therapy and wellness consulting are among the alternative health modalities being redefined as "Alternative Medicine." This subtle change of vocabulary from "alternative health care" to "alternative medicine" makes all of these industries subject to control by the FDA as medicine. Only medical doctors would be allowed to provide, prescribe and supervise the delivery of these services. Anybody else who provided any of these services would be practicing medicine without a license and subject to incarceration and fines.That's the bad news.

The good news is we have until April 30, 2007 to voice our opinion against this proposal to eliminate complementary and alternative health care in America.

Almost 100,000 people have already filed their objection. According to Dr. Rima Laibow, medical director of the Natural Therapies Foundation, we need 50 times that many people to respond by the end of the month.Please stand up and be counted.
